Nadia & Michael’s wedding – North East weddings

North East weddings | Nadia & Michael’s wedding at Newton Hall

Sometimes my couples hold their weddings in the North East despite living elsewhere.  It can be because of our beautiful landscape, a family connection or just something as simple as they found a venue they liked more than where they live – Nadia and Michael were one such couple, booking the fantastic Newton Hall despite residing in the North West.  They’d stumbled across Newton Hall, felt it was perfect despite it being a couple of hours or so away, and booked it for their big day, luckily they felt the same about me and it was a real honour to be part of such a chilled out, cool and somewhat emotional day (so many tears!).

North East weddings don’t generally have outdoor ceremonies, however we struck lucky with the weather and despite being a little overcast the roof was retracted from the terrace and we had it under the summer sky… amazing!!!  As I said above there were many tears throughout the day, non so more than the ceremony with Nadia and her dad both shedding a few in what was a really beautiful and moving ceremony, Archie their dog didn’t shed any but he seemed to enjoy watching everything unfold.  Later on he’d steal the show with some of our portraits but Nadia and Michael held their own and managed to still shine despite his best efforts to steal their thunder!

Newton Hall is so close to the coast that going to the beach late in the day is always something really special, it was awesome that not only were these guys up for the short trip to the nearby sands, they even embraced my idea to climb a sand dune for a great silhouette shot – so cool!

The first dance was fantastic and Nadia then danced with her dad, again tears were shed… as a father myself I can at least partially empathise with the emotion involved (even if my little boy isn’t even two years old yet!).  Then the party kicked off big style with an awesome band getting everyone up and dancing.  I don’t know if there’s such thing as a ‘perfect’ wedding, but Nadia and Michael got about as close as is possible to it, what a couple, what a day… thanks guys for inviting me along to capture it!

I love shooting North East weddings so if like Nadia & Michael you are having your big day up here (or are getting married elsewhere in the UK or even abroad) please get in touch for a chat.
