North East wedding at Matfen Hall
Laura and Ash booked me for their North East wedding at Matfen Hall and it was such a beautiful occasion. It was a strangely warm December and although the winter theme seemed slightly at odds with the temperature outside it didn’t change the festive atmosphere at all, so whilst it was warm enough for guests to mingle outside for a while, the venue was beautifully decorated reminding everyone that Xmas was almost upon us.
Despite living in Manchester Laura and Ash had their hearts set on a North East wedding, choosing the stunning Matfen Hall as their venue. It’s a great place for a wedding with beautiful grounds and amazing views, and definitely one of my favourite bridal preparation rooms anywhere – Room 6. I met Laura here in the morning and she was very chilled out, enjoying the build up with her bridesmaids. It sort of set the theme for the rest of the day, very relaxed, very personal with a few laughs thrown in for good measure.
The ceremony was very moving, the open fire and huge Xmas tree creating an unbelievably romantic setting in the Great Hall. There was everything from singing to laughter (Laura said ‘I do’ at the wrong moment’) and a real close bond of friends, family and love. Awesome!
The drinks reception followed and after a few quick portraits of the happy couple the speeches were next up and featured MANY huge laugh out loud moments creating a fantastic atmosphere. I whisked Laura and Ash out in to the night for a few more shots after this and before I knew it they were dancing their first dance as a married couple. It had been a bit of a whirlwind of a day but it wasn’t over yet, the wedding band (The Range) belted out some epic rock tunes for guests to party the night away to.
Laura and Ash, what a seriously nice couple you are… I couldn’t have wished for a more accommodating, friendly and warm bride and groom to work with, thanks for everything and I know you’ll have an eternity of happiness together!
