Laura & Tom’s wedding – Jesmond Dene House wedding photographer

Jesmond Dene House wedding photographer

I was thrilled when Laura and Tom asked me to be their Jesmond Dene House wedding photographer, it’s a stunning venue and a perfect match for this very chilled out couple.  It’s a grand building with a beautiful old hall but it’s also intimate as well, and that’s very much what this wedding was, a real intimate and beautiful day with lots of laughing, celebrating and a really relaxed vibe.  Even the typical British weather didn’t put a dampener on things and in the early evening it cleared up and allowed everyone to go outside and enjoy the venue’s grounds.  We made full use of this with some lovely bride and groom portraits, confetti and a few group shots.  I sometimes get asked if I do group shots as I don’t put many on the site, but yes I do and I’m always happy to shoot a few on the day.

One of the best things about being asked to be a couple’s Jesmond Dene House wedding photographer is the fact everywhere you look it’s just so incredibly lovely, from the Great Hall with its wooden panelling, high ceilings and feature fireplace, to the grounds surrounding the building and of course Jesmond Dene.  As the weather wasn’t too great we didn’t get chance to go to the Dene, however I have a favourite spot inside on the big staircase next to huge windows that allow lots of natural light.  It’s always good to have a backup plan for let’s face it the less than predictable North East weather and in Laura and Tom I had great models who posed perfectly and allowed me to make the best of the natural light.  We got some great shots and it’s no surprise as they were also great on the pre-wedding shoot.  You can tell they are head over heels in love so it’s no wonder they are great at posing for romantic shots.

The speeches were a real highlight at the wedding as they were very informal, it felt more like I was at someone’s house for dinner the way people just chatted to the room rather than do a more traditional speech.  It was just typical of this informal and intimate day though and was really enjoyable to photograph (and listen to).

I left just after the first dance and as the party was in full swing, it was a great wedding to be a part of and I wish Laura & Tom lots of happiness together… they are lovely people and I really enjoyed sharing their big day with them!
